Weserbergland is the home of world-famous fairy tales and sagas: you will certain remember the pied piper of Hamelin, Doctor Eisenbart, Cinderella or the lying Baron of Münchhausen? And even today you could run into one or more of these characters on a trip through Weserbergland. Experience the land of fairy tales up close.
The Weserradweg (Weser cycle route) is one of the most popular cycle routes in Germany. It is signposted along its whole length and because of the very few hills, it is an ideal route for families. A great many sights along the way invite you to take a break and also enable you to choose shorter or longer stages to suit your own capabilities or inclinations.
On the Weser, canoeists are free to paddle on roughly 200 kilometres without any interference from commercial shipping, locks or weirs. A nationwide unique service draws attention from afar to public landing places: the signpost reads "Gelbe Welle".
The Weser passenger fleet plies the river in partial sections. You can therefore explore Weserbergland by ship in your own individual way, regardless of whether you're on a day trip, round trip or scheduled service.
Did you know that Weserbergland features the largest number of Renaissance buildings north of the Alps? Magnificent castles and forts in the style of the Weser Renaissance line the roads and lend the region its very special charm.
And anybody wishing to get away from it all and relax will find a wide range of attractions in Weserbergland and will perhaps also encounter some "old friends".
