The majority of our youth hostels can accommodate travellers in wheelchairs, ensuring that people with mobility problems can enjoy the luxury of travelling. With new buildings and when we modernise, we orient ourselves as far as possible to DIN standards (from the German Institute for Standardization) for freedom from barriers. However, unfortunately, an unequivocal categorization in terms of "suitable for wheelchairs" or "handicapped accessible" is not always possible. We can also not make a global statement on how many people in wheelchairs can be accommodated in any particular youth hostel, as such is dependent on individual circumstances. If you're disabled and are interested in staying in a youth hostel, we would therefore request you to be sure to get in touch directly with the management of the respective youth hostel and clarify your special requirements.
Especially if you are planning a longer stay or travelling with a group, it would be helpful for you to obtain a picture of the available facilities for yourself. For this reason, we would be happy for you to arrange a meeting with the youth hostel manager.
At least one area of the hostel (rooms, sanitary facilities, dining room) is accessible without steps or stairs in the following youth hostels:
