Within the German Youth Hostel Association, the Torfhaus hostel is a recognised environmental-studies site and a National Park educational institution. The special ecological environment of the location, which is part of a nature-conservation area, offers outstanding opportunities for environmental education. Its virtually wild state nurtures what is in part a unique world of fauna and flora.
A stay at our youth hostel is supremely and particularly suitable for holistic, project-oriented working and living. In close cooperation with the TorfHaus National Park Visitors' Centre, we offer a wide range of programmes on the topics of nature conservation and environmental protection and therefore recommended for:
- School classes and youth groups of all ages
- School field trips with a pedagogic background in terms of the environment
- Projects
- Kindergarten trips
- Children and youth activity programmes
Our location in the wildly romantic, thickly forested "Harz Mountains National Park", directly alongside the renowned Harzer-Hexen-Stieg, also makes our hostel the ideal centre for family holidays, conferences and seminars.
