Signposted trails are an invitation to adventurous hikes through extensive forests, the game park and the high-moor bog. Get inspiration and the latest information from the hostel wardens – for example for a visit to the 33-metre high wooden observation tower in Hochsolling. Linked into the network of hiking trails, this popular excursion destination provides a wonderful view across wide stretches of the Weser Mountains.

The Mecklenbruch high-moor bog offers a very special encounter with nature. It can be perfectly explored via Holzsteg and the observation tower without causing any environmental damage to the moor bog area. A circular information trail takes visitors on a tour of the moor and explains not only the origin of the area but also its flora and fauna. Guided tours are also available there.
Excursion destinations in the surrounding area include the Wildpark (Game Park) with its Waldmuseum (Forest Museum). A visit to the nearby town of Holzminden and Uslar (with its Schmetterlingspark – a butterfly park, an open-air pool and an indoor swimming pool with an 84-metre slide) and a steamer trip on the river Weser are well worth the effort, as is a detour to the Fürstenberg porcelain factory and the famous Corvey Abbey.
