Welcome to one of the most magical spots in the Südheide; welcome to charming Müden/Örtze. Virtually hidden by oak trees, the state-recognised spa nestles in the river valley of the Örtze and the Wietze. Nowhere else can the visitor experience the entire magic of the Lüneburger Heath in such intensity, with its delicate shades of spring green, shining heather, brightly-coloured autumn glory and snow-laden winter idyll. The place has retained the character of a typical heathland village and is characterised by romantic old half-timbered buildings and farmsteads, by gnarled oaks and by endearing and ever-friendly locals.
The centre of the village is marked by the St. Laurentius Church which was built in 1217 and features a freestanding wooden bell tower so typical for churches on the heath. No less old than the church is the Laurentius market – a jumble market at which farmers used to buy all those items that they did not produce themselves. Today, the Laurentius Market is still celebrated every year on the Wednesday and Thursday immediately following the 10th of August.
Hospitality has tradition in Müden/Örtze. At any time of the year, all guests, whether weekenders or longer-term visitors, can expect to enjoy a stay which is as stimulating as it is relaxing. And if the idyll becomes wearying, then there are ample possibilities for exploring the surrounding area on a more sporting note.
