Elberadweg (The Elbe Cycle Path)

We invite you most warmly to take a cycle tour along the Elbe Cycle Path. Your cycling discovery tour along the river leads you straight to Hitzacker. Treat yourself to a breather in the youth hostel and spend a relaxing day in Hitzacker.

Here you can get to know the river Elbe from another perspective, for example by taking a trip on the passenger ship "Elbe-Star" or by visiting the Old Customs House museum ("Altes Zollhaus"), where not only the latest high-water situations are documented, but also the Elbe itself as the former border river between East and West Germany. At the Hitzacker Archaeological Centre you can gain insights into the early foundations of settlements along the Elbe. Here, in a Bronze Age canoe, you can experience prehistoric- and early-history paddling on Lake Hitzacker. A visit to the Hiddobad, the Hitzacker family swimming pool, also makes for a welcome break for the whole family. Here you will find the 90-metre giant slide, swimming-pool fun, a parent-child section with a mud bath and protection from the sun, not to mention plenty of room for just relaxing, letting off steam and playing.

And the next day all your energy will have been restored for a day in the saddle.
