This puts the fun into culture!

Are you looking for the five-kilometre "Hildesheimer Rosenroute" which will guide you to the sights of the inner city? Keep your eyes open: White rose petals on the pavement show you the way. From the historic market place (Marktplatz) – here is the world's finest half-timbered house – the route takes you through shopping streets and alleyways lined by half-timbered houses to churches and to world-famous UNESCO World Heritage Sites.

Are you a fan of ancient Egypt or of old Peruvian collections? You will find a collection of European significance in the Roemer- und Pelizaeus-Museum. However, elephants must wait outside – here the famous Ernst-Ohlmer collections of Chinese porcelain are at home. And in the Dom- und Diözesan-Museum you will find religious art, including the cathedral's treasury and precious objects from the history of the cathedral and the diocese.

How about an excursion? If you have seen enough of Hildesheim – which we dare to doubt – there is the Weserbergland area steeped in fairy tales, the Leinebergland, the Harz Mountains with the 1000-year former imperial city of Goslar, the nearby capital of Lower Saxony, Hannover, the Marienburg Castle museum, a big amusement park, the "Gelber Turm" observatory and the game reserve on the Steinberg! All of these are well worth a visit.
