High-altitude training for hobby and competitive sportspersons

For hikers, the Harz Mountains offer virtually inexhaustible possibilities for all age groups and degrees of difficulty. Children can get close to nature by exploring a nature adventure trail or enjoy "mining" games in a forest playground fitted with a newly erected "pit-head frame". And from Goslar, most tourist attractions located in the Harz Mountains are easily accessible by public transport. And from the youth hostel itself, Hahnenklee, Schulenberg, Altenau and other attractive destinations can be reached on foot by following the respective marked trails.

Sport, fun, relaxation: Goslar offers a forest swimming pool, a modern open-air pool, a minigolf facility set up for competitive play, an indoor pool suitable for competitive sport, as well as tennis and squash centres, a trampoline hall, facilities for paragliding and hang-gliding, and a nearby skateboard and inline sporting track with ramps. Gliding and watersport facilities are also available in Goslar or the immediate area.

In winter, visitors can enjoy tobogganing, skiing or ice-skating on the natural ice-skating rink in Hahnenklee, followed by a cosy round of hot drinks in the hostel and a get-together with friends old and new.
